Next, you’ll travel from Kumarakom to Alleppey where you’ll relish a houseboat day cruise through beautiful backwaters and admire the awe-inspiring vistas of lush greenery and emerald waters before you enjoy an overnight stay and a day at leisure in Kumarakom. From here you’ll fly to Mumbai for a further hotel stay before you embark the decadent Deccan Odyssey for a memorable rail journey to Delhi.

Day 1
Delhi - Hotel Stay

Begin your fantastic trip with an overnight stay in Delhi. One of the most historic capitals in the world, Delhi is a treasure trove that reveals the ultimate combination of tradition and modernity. Made up of seven ancient cities, its multi-layered existence and profusion of architectural styles is tantalising.

Day 2
Cochin - Hotel Stay

Today you’ll fly to Cochin and plunge yourself into the city’s mixture of cultures and influences; from Chinese innovations to Portuguese architecture. Walk along the sea front and catch a glimpse of the giant Chinese fishing nets at Fort Kochi or visit the 400-year-old synagogue for an exciting twist in atmosphere.

Day 3
Cochin - Hotel Stay

Today you’ll embark on a sightseeing tour of Cochin. This captivating tour will include visits to St. Francis Church, which is one of the oldest European churches in India; The Mattancherry Palace, a Portuguese Palace that features Kerala murals depicting portraits and exhibits of the Rajas of Kochi; the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations and the giant Chinese fishing nets at Fort Kochi.

This evening you’ll enjoy a Kathakali Dance Performance at a local theatre. Kathakali is one of the major forms of classical Indian dance and is distinguished by the elaborately colourful make up, costumes and facemasks that the traditionally male actor-dancers wear.

Day 4
Kumarakom - Houseboat Cruise and Hotel Stay

This morning you’ll travel to Alleppey where you’ll embark on a houseboat day cruise through the beautiful Kerala backwaters. You’ll board the welcoming houseboat, featuring shining wooden floors and luxury amenities, and gaze out at the awe-inspiring, panoramic vistas of lush green paddy fields, rows of coconut palm trees and emerald waters. Whilst on board you’ll enjoy delicious local cuisine before being transferred to your Kumarakom hotel to begin your stay.

Day 5
Kumarakom - Hotel Stay

Today is a day you’ll get to spend at leisure in the enticing city of Kumarakom. Poised on Vembanad Lake, in the backwaters of Kerala and laced with canals where houseboats weave the waters, it’s a popular backwater tourist destination. Head to the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, set amongst lush green woodland, and observe a variety of migratory birds including the Siberian stork, egret, darter, heron and teal.

Day 6
Mumbai - Hotel Stay

Today you’ll fly to Mumbai and transfer to your hotel for your overnight stay. Spend the evening relaxing as you prepare for the next part of your Indian adventure.

Day 7
Mumbai - Embark Deccan Odyssey

Enjoy a morning sightseeing tour of Mumbai. Your half-day tour will take you to the Hanging Gardens from where you’ll enjoy excellent city views and Mani Bhavan, the former residence of Mahatma Gandhi. This afternoon, board the spectacular Deccan Odyssey for an unforgettable train journey to Delhi. As you settle into your delightful cabins, you’ll receive a traditional Indian welcome and a refreshing drink.

Day 8

You’ll wake up in Vadodara, where you’ll visit the Champaner- Pavagadh Archaeological Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the only complete pre-Mughal Islamic city in India. Marvel at the Jama Masjid (Great Mosque) built in 1513, representing a perfect blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture. End your day with a visit to the Maharaja Fateh Singh Museum where you’ll observe beautiful art before you indulge in a high tea at the resplendent Laxmi Villas Palace, residence of the Royal family.

Day 9

Udaipur, known as the City of Lakes, is easily one of the most romantic cities in India. You’ll visit the famous City Palace, with its scalloped arches, fretted balconies, and cupolas, followed by a boat cruise on the tranquil waters of Lake Pichola. Later you’ll enjoy a walking tour through the Old City of Udaipur with its colourful bazaars and shops selling spices, tea and bamboo baskets.

Day 10

Enjoy a relaxing morning on board as you trundle through the stronghold of the Marwar region and experience the striking panorama of the Thar Desert as you arrive in Jodhpur. Spend the morning at leisure, where you could pay a visit to the Bishnoi village and take a peep into the lives of the Bishnoi tribe. After lunch, you’ll explore the magnificent city of Jodhpur where you can admire fine architecture from the Rajput era, experience glimpses of the lifestyle of the residents as you wander through the bustling Old Clock Tower Market and marvel at the intricate carvings and expansive courtyards of the several palaces situated in the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort.

Day 11
Sawai Madhopur - Ranthambore National Park

Today you’ll enjoy a game drive at Ranthambore National Park, one of the best places to spot tigers in their natural habitat; as well as sloth bears, leopards and crocodiles. You’ll also visit a traditional Rajasthani village where local families will give you an insight into their way of life. Later, you’ll enjoy afternoon tea at the Sawai Madhopur Lodge, the former hunting lodge of the Jaipur royal family.

Day 12

Arriving in Agra, you will see that the Mughals were not just the greatest dynasty to rule India but also its greatest builders. Here you’ll visit the incomparable Taj Mahal, one of the world’s most admired monuments. Your tour of Agra continues as you visit Agra Fort, another outstanding example of Mughal architecture, and the seat of Mughal reign and administrations for three generations.

Day 13

Today you’ll arrive in Jaipur, a colourful city overlooked by forts that crown the surrounding Aravali hills. The city is a colourful oasis in the desert and you will notice a timeless quality to Jaipur’s bazaars and its people. You’ll stop at the Palace of Winds, also known as Hawa Mahal, famous for its intricate pink sandstone carving, before visiting the Amber Fort, a sprawling complex of courtyards and rooms adorned with paintings, precious stones and mirrors. Next, you’ll explore the City Palace, an overwhelming complex of exquisite palaces, gardens, courtyards, decorative art and carved doorways.

Day 14
Delhi - Disembark Deccan Odyssey and Hotel Stay

Today you’ll arrive in Delhi where your royal passage through the grand vistas of India comes to an end. Upon disembarkation, you’ll meet a tour guide who will take you on a half-day sightseeing tour of New Delhi, exploring sights including the imposing India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb and the Qutab Minar. Following your tour, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for an overnight stay.
