Your holiday begins in sophisticated and multicultural Adelaide where you’ll have three nights to explore blend of influences that flavours its restaurants, arts scene, live music calendar and bars. A short distance from the city are the charming Adelaide Hills and the German town of Hahndorf, where you’ll enjoy a series of delicious wine tastings during a full-day tour.


Following your Adelaide stay, you’ll board the legendary Ghan for your journey through the Australian Outback. Friendly staff will lead you to your comfortable private cabin where you'll be able to settle in and admire the view outside your window begin its spectacular transformation. Enjoy gastronomic delights in the Queen Adelaide Restaurant as you tuck into gourmet meals prepared by professional chefs, using locally sourced ingredients for a true taste of the Outback. You’ll be whisked through a landscape resplendent with rusty red hues and South Australian plains. Enjoy a short stop in Marla, as well as stops in Alice Springs, where you’ll visit famous landmarks and get an authentic outback experience, and Katherine, where you’ll experience a cruise along the idyllic Katherine River. As dry and dusty outback makes way for lush wetlands of the Top End, you’ll know you’ve arrived in Darwin where you’ll disembark for a three night hotel stay.

During your Darwin stay you’ll have the chance to enjoy a Sunset River cruise, witnessing the spectacular colours spread across the harbour, and tour the Litchfield National Park where you can savour views of breathtaking scenery and catch a glimpse of the local wildlife; namely the 1600 crocodiles – which you’ll get up close and personal to during a river cruise.

Day 1:  Late afternoon the paddle wheeler the P.S. Murray Princess departs the birthplace of the Murray River trade and communication, Mannum. Take some time on board to familiarise yourself with your surroundings and relax as the paddle boat cruises up the mighty river; delight in some pre-dinner drinks and a welcome aboard dinner. During the evening, you’ll cruise under floodlight to an overnight mooring at Caurnamont. Be on the look out for nocturnal wildlife including grey kangaroos, hair-nosed wombats, longnecked tortoises and spoon-beaked echidnas that roam the banks of the river. Settle in for a night's entertainment by an on-board musician for those who wish a late night.

Day 2:   As daybreak arrives on the Murray River, it’s the best time for keen photographers to get out on deck and spot the morning movement of wildlife including pelicans, blue wrens and black swans. After breakfast your Murray Princess cruise continues, this time the paddle steamer will cruise upstream to Blanchetown, through one of 13 locks which maintain the flow of the Murray River and levels of water. Shortly the river boat will reach Salter's Station for overnight anchorage. This evening, as the last rays of the sun fade, you can join one of expert guides for a tour of Burk Salter's vineyard on the banks of the Murray River, there is even time for a little wine tasting at the cellar door. Tonight, enjoy all the fun and excitement of the Murray River Cup on board the P.S. Murray Princess.

Day 3:  After breakfast join a guide for a walk along the eco-sensitive wetlands of Salter's Station. Back on board you’ll savour a delicious lunch before enjoying some leisure time either reading your book, catching some rays on the Sun Deck or, enjoy a lifestyle and info-cruising presentation. During the afternoon your Murray Princess cruise will arrive at Sunnydale, here it's all ashore for the Woolshed Sound & Light Show that recreates typical Australian woolshed history. Later that day a visit is made to the Native Wildlife Shelter where some of South Australia's most interesting native animals are cared for. That evening your chefs will prepare a great Aussie Barbecue cooked and served in a bush setting on the banks of the mighty Murray River.

Day 4:  Fully rested and following a tasty breakfast, the P.S. Murray Princess slowly cruises past magnificent cliffs scoured by the Murray River over millions of years. The next stop for the paddle boat is Ngaut Ngaut Aboriginal Reserve, one of Australia's most significant archaeological sites. Take a step back in time, tens of thousands of years, and join a knowledgeable guide for a boardwalk view of ancient rock carvings and learn about aboriginal history in the area. Back on board the boat will cruise down to Younghusband. Along the way, adventure seekers can also take a speed boat ride. The P.S. Murray Princess will cruise past large billabongs, open expanses of water and soaring cliffs. Tonight, the Captain and his officers host a spectacular farewell dinner onboard the Murray Princess.

Day 5:  After breakfast, P.S. Murray Princess arrives at Mannum where all new friends and crew reluctantly say farewell.

Day 1
Adelaide - Hotel Stay

Adelaide is a city full of culture, flavours and entertainment. You’ll enjoy today at your leisure to explore and get to know the city.

For a hit of culture, The Art Gallery of South Australia and the South Australian Museum offer insights into Australia’s natural and artistic heritage. If you want to hit the beach, head to historic Glenelg while there’s plenty of shopping to be had in Rundle Street. From Haigh’s famous chocolate factory and the laneway restaurants to the vineyards of the Barossa Valley, there are plenty of gastronomic delights to savour here.

Day 2
Adelaide - Hotel Stay and Tour

Today you’ll explore the Adelaide Hills, an area known for its fantastic wine, wildlife encounters and beautiful scenery. You’ll head first Mt Lofty Summit where you can enjoy the sweeping vista of the city, followed by a cheese tasting at Woodside Cheese and a visit to Melba’s Chocolate Factory. Next you’ll visit two of Adelaide Hills’ most popular wineries where you’ll discover the history of the area alongside sampling a variety of delicious wines.

Settled by 19th-century Lutheran migrants, Hahndorf is known for its original German-style architecture and artisanal food. Here you’ll have time to explore the art galleries, museums, cafes and boutique shops, before making a quick stop at Beerenberg Farm Shop at the end of your tour.

Day 3
Adelaide - Hotel Stay

From visiting Adelaide Central Markets, to admiring the familiar animals at Adelaide Zoo, there's plenty to see and do during your stay here. As the fifth most populous city of Australia, you'll be spoilt with a buzzing city vibe and fabulous night life.

Adelaide to Darwin - The Ghan

Following your Adelaide stay, board the legendary Ghan for your three day journey through the Australian Outback. Day 5
The Ghan

Wake up to a new view outside our window, in a world which feels miles from home. Watch as the sun rises over the endless outback, as one of the most spectacular views you may ever see!

You’ll be whisked through a landscape resplendent with rusty red hues and South Australian plains. Enjoy a short stop in Marla, as well as stops in Alice Springs, where you’ll visit famous landmarks and get an authentic outback experience, and Katherine, where you’ll experience a cruise along the idyllic Katherine River.

Day 6
Darwin - Hotel Stay

Today you’ll arrive into the capital of Australia’s Northern Territory, Darwin, here you’ll bid farewell to the legendary Ghan for your hotel stay. The wonderful capital is blessed with a cosmopolitan mix of culture and stunning natural scenery, during your three night hotel stay visit Skycity and enjoy a lavish day out by the pool or gambling at the casino. If something more traditional takes your fancy, visit the locals at Crocosaurus Cove, and get a glimpse of Australia up close and personal!

Day 7
Darwin - Hotel Stay and Tour

Following another day exploring Darwin, this evening, you’ll embark on a Charles Darwin sunset cruise around the beautiful harbour. Whilst on board, you’ll indulge in a delicious Territory style buffet as you gaze out upon the spectacular views of the famous Darwin sunset, spreading magnificent colours across the harbour. The menu typically includes Australian seafood, a variety of meat and poultry options, fresh salads, a selection of cakes and local fruits.

Day 8
Darwin - Hotel Stay and Tour

Litchfield National Park contains several types of typical Top End habitats including lush monsoon forests, unusual rock formations, waterfalls and cascades. Walk up to the giant termite mounds, travel on Tolmer Falls for magnificent views of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole at the base of the falls, view the breathtaking scenery and catch a glimpse of the local wildlife.

To finish the day, you will visit the location of the famous Jumping Crocodiles; home to over 1600 crocodiles. Take a cruise on a private boat along the Adelaide River, it is here you will have the opportunity to see these territorial creatures at very close range as they launch themselves out of the water. Finish the day by relaxing and taking in the famous Northern Territory sunset with prawns and bubbles before being transferred back to Darwin.

Fly Home

Your coast to coast Australian adventure complete, today you’ll head to the airport for your flight back home.
